Position Overview:
St. Peter’s Health Partners Medical Associates is seeking a fellowship-trained, board-certified Anesthesiologist for the Chief of Anesthesiology position at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY. This is a hospital employed leadership role where you will oversee the entire anesthesia department, ensuring high-quality patient care and managing clinical operations, staff, policies, and quality improvement efforts. As Chief, you will play a key role in shaping the future of anesthesia care and fostering a collaborative, patient-centered environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management: Lead the anesthesia department, overseeing clinical operations, staffing, and quality improvement initiatives. Ensure department functions align with hospital goals and accreditation standards (TJC, ASA).
- Quality & Safety: Champion high-quality anesthesia care, continuous quality improvement, and patient safety. Ensure the department’s compliance with best practices, policies, and procedures, while monitoring key quality metrics and patient outcomes.
- Team Development: Lead a dynamic team of anesthesiologists and CRNAs, creating educational programs and mentorship opportunities to foster professional development and ensure clinical excellence across all specialties.
- Collaboration: Work closely with surgeons, nursing, and leadership to ensure seamless, patient-centered care across all surgical specialties. Provide administrative oversight and support to various surgical services including strategic planning and financial management.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Develop and implement cutting-edge protocols and standards of practice in anesthesiology, ensuring continuous evaluation and improvement of the department’s clinical care and operational efficiency.
- Performance Management: Actively participate in performance improvement initiatives, review quality assurance data, and track improvements in operational efficiencies and patient flow.
- Oversight of Anesthesia Services: Provide leadership across all areas where anesthesia care is provided including the OR, OB, endoscopy, and conscious sedation. Ensure adequate staffing and compliance with anesthesia care protocols.
Qualifications:
- Board-certified, fellowship-trained Anesthesiologist with a strong background in clinical and departmental leadership.
- Proven experience in leading anesthesia teams, with demonstrated abilities in administration, clinical practice, and collaborative care. Experience in managing a team of Physicians and CRNAs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships across departments, manage a cohesive team, and communicate effectively with hospital leadership.
- Demonstrated commitment to high-quality patient care and the ability to improve patient outcomes through innovative care models and operational efficiency.
- Experience in academic teaching and involvement in clinical research is preferred.
Recruitment Package:
- Competitive salary with base pay of $555,120 including the stipend.
